This pipe has been mindfully carved out of reclaimed manzanita burl that died and was gathered from the high desert mountains of southern California.

Measures 8 1/2" Long X 1 3/4" Wide X 2" Thick.

This rare piece features a custom carved bowl that is 3/4" round and 1" Deep for some extra packing. The bowl has been masterfully carved in an exotic design that curves up and out of the bowl to offer the look as if it has actually been melted into form. This is yet another element of my trademark craftmanship that is unseen in any other crafted wood pipes. 

The bowl has also been charred to burn off the natural wood resins for a clean and natural smoke. 

The smoke hole is 3/16" for a slow, smooth and cool draw. 

Manzanita is a tree that grows all around southern California and is so exotic it is protected by federal law and is illegal to cut it down without proper permission from either land owners or state and federal officials. 

Manzanita burl, the wood root mass that the manzanita tree grows from, is even more dense and often times offers more stunning character than the tree itself and so it holds the heat well and is a great wood for crafting exotic and long lasting pipes out of it.

The manzanita part of the pipe highlights the natural and organic wood bumps, knots and ripples that have been left in their natural live edge state the way the burl wood naturally grew. The rest of the burl part has been hand carved to reveal the natural inner wood grain. 

The stem has been custom made from two beautiful hardwoods to contrast the exotic manzanita burl that makes up the main part of the pipe. 

First there is a very rare and impossible to find black walnut burl with the most unique wood grain patterns that are unmatched by any other black walnut burl wood. I acquired an exotic cut of this rare walnut about 15 years ago and have been holding on to for such special occassion pieces as this one. 

The contact point of where the black walnut stem is attached to the manzanita has been intricately hand carved to match the natural grooves and valleys of the manzanita burl adding to the aesthetics of the pipe in a way that looks as if the two woods have naturally grown together in form. The process in which this handcarved design has come from is one of my signature craftmanship skills that I have literally learned from the manzanita and acquired over the many years I've been crafting with it. 

Next, and completing the stem is African purple heart wood. Purple heart is a very hard and beautiful wood that holds its durability and purple color.

All three of these amazing woods have been selectively joined together to offer one hell of an exotic keepsake of a pipe!

Natural weatherd wood cracks and knots have been inlaid nicely with some high grade bright blue sleeping beauty turquoise stone to compliment the organic nature of the wood and to add more character. 

Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is revered and highly sought after due to its pure sky blue color which shows very little to no veining or webbing which is why it has been chosen to highlight this custom piece.  

It’s pure color and natural strength make Sleeping Beauty Turquoise characteristics a favorite for jewelry makers and artists around the world. It is one of the most prized forms of turquoise for jewelry and adornment.

Each and every stone, shard and chunk of turquoise has been mindfully and patiently inlaid into the wood one piece at a time.

Feels good and sits perfect in either right or left hand grip as the back of this custom piece has been carved at the back part of the pipe and slightly wraps around both sides, exposing more of the inner wood grain and adding more comfort to the grip.

The tip of the stem has been carved down to a smooth tapered tip for comfort on the lips. 

Each piece finished with an eco friendly penetrating oil sealed permanently into the wood for a long and happy life.

Sits flat when set down.

This pipe has been both signed and dated by the artist. 

Additionally, as this is a specialty collectors pipe it also comes with a certificate of authenticity. 

Each pipe comes with stainless  steel screens, a polishing cloth and a black velveteen cloth bag for safe keeping!

Polished to a smooth and glass like finish!
