Custom manzanita wood pipe from the traditional "cob style" smoking pipes.
A rounded cob style bowl carved from a dense Manzanita burl and a dark black walnut smoking stem.
Measures 5 3/4" Long x 1 3/4" Wide x 1 1/2" thick. The custom bowl is 1" in diameter and is set @ 3/4" Deep. The bowl also has been hand charred to burn away the natural wood resins for a clean smoke.
An 1/8" smoking chamber for a slow cool draw.
Manzanita is a tree that grows all around southern California and is so exotic it is protected by federal law and is illegal to cut it down without proper permission from either land owners or state and federal officials. Manzanita wood is also a very hard and dense wood so it holds the heat well and is a great wood for crafting long lasting pipes out of it.
Introducing this new new line of traditional "Cob" style collectors pipes edition. The bowl is made from a dense cut of manzanita and hand carved to a slight barrel or corn cob shape for those who prefer the classic pipe style look and feel. The carved bowl fits perfectly in the palm. The stem has been handcarved from a dark black walnut burl, individually selected to compliment the character and permanently attached to the bowl.
The custom carved tip of the stem has been handcarved to a traditional tobacco style shape.
This piece also features some unique inner heartwood grain and wood knots that showed up nice during the carving process. It's these signature grain striations that makes manzanita one of the most beautiful woods to work with!
Unique and natural live edge exterior wood knot structure in the bowl has been left in its natural and organic form to complement the style of this pipe.
A great one of a kind piece to show off and take along on travels and adventures.Very smooth to the touch and meditative to hold for either right or left hand grip.
Inlaid in the woods natural weathered cracks all along the exterior wood and the handcarved grain is some blue turquoise and deep green malachite that stands out very nicely amongst the wood grain for extra character and beauty. Each and every shard and chunk of inlay has been inlaid by hand one piece at a time.
An organic, environment friendly penetrating oil has hand sanded into the wood to preserve it for a long and happy life.
Each pipe comes with stainless steel screens, a polishing cloth and a black velveteen cloth bag for safe keeping!
Sits flat when set down.
